HOOKIPA Pharma Inc. (NASDAQ: HOOK) is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing a new class of immunotherapeutics, targeting infectious diseases and cancers based on its proprietary arenavirus platform that is designed to reprogram the body’s immune system.
We are looking for a Scientist (m/f) with a strong background in molecular biology techniques and virology to join our highly motivated and dedicated Virology team. The focus of our Virology department is the generation & characterization of novel vaccine candidate vectors as well as basic and in depth virological research. The advertised position includes laboratory work as well as personnel and project management tasks.
Team management: Guide a team of Lab technicians to generate and characterize vaccine preparations for use in preclinical studies
Project Management: Assist in project management & coordination with external collaboration partners, to meet timelines and milestone achievements
Laboratory work and research:
- Analysis of tumor associated antigens for use in vaccine development and vaccine
- Establishment of (new) molecular techniques for characterization of vaccine vectors
- Assist in development of vaccine candidate vectors for cancer and infectious disease
- Develop and execute research projects to address virological questions
- Collaborate & coordinate with cross-functional teams
- Effectively communicate and present (internally and externally) scientific results in
oral and written forms.
PhD in Virology, Immunology or related fields with minimum 3 years relevant industry experience.
Strong background in molecular biology and virology
Leadership skills and proactive work style, detail-orientated and well-organized
Experience in Project Management and Project Coordination is a plus
Background in cancer biology and experience in cancer vaccine development is a plus
Ability to work independently, work on multiple projects in parallel and plan and prioritize work for Lab Technicians
Excellent teamwork and communication skills (English and German fluently, written & spoken) to drive cross-functional work
Experience with Quality systems (e.g. GMP; GLP) is an advantage

We are required by Austrian law to post a minimum salary. The minimum monthly gross salary for this position is EUR 3.802,- based on fulltime (40 hours per week); depending on experience and qualification salary can be negotiated. In addition, we offer a performance-related bonus payment and participation in our stock option compensation program.
