ACIB – the Austrian Centre of Industrial Biotechnology – is one of the leading research centres in the field of industrial biotechnology. ACIB is dedicated to joint research at the industrial-academic interface. Seven Austrian Universities and more than 50 leading industry partners are working together within the ACIB research program.
Starting with mid of March 2017, ACIB offers in Vienna a
Full-time technician position
for protein- and nanotechnology in the project
Conductive Nanomembranes for Reactions and Separations
At ACIB we are working on an ambitious project aiming at the implementation of nanotechnology into industrial bioseparation processes which makes us a frontrunner in the emerging field of nanomembrane technology. In this challenging endeavour several scientific disciplines are intersecting as we develop novel materials that incorporate functional proteins to harness the selectivity of biological transport. Alongside the development, fabrication and characterization of polymer based nanomembranes with a thickness of less than 100 nm, the production and purification of selected proteins and their conjunction with these membranes are major goals within this project. Working towards active transport, the membranes shall additionally be able to regenerate, by electric current, the energy source for selective pumping. Methods used encompass (among others) PCR, shaken flask cultivation, chromatography, photometric assays, electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy.
BSc in fields related to biochemical engineering, materials science and biotechnology
Basic experimental skills in biochemical methods
Basic skills in protein production and purification
